Listserv has been set up for College of Nursing and Health Sciences students, faculty, staff, and alumni. A listserv is essentially an easy way to send an E-mail to a group of people. Rather than trying to type in the addresses of each of the individuals, you can send one message to the listserv. The message will be received by each person who has subscribed to the listserv.

The Simulation & Clinical Learning Center is a safe environment designed to foster and facilitate student learning through hands-on practice and simulated experiences. Using a variety of task trainers, low to high fidelity manikins and computerized experiences, students will gain proficiency in knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be better able to provide safe, quality patient care.

Certification Opportunities

Two courses in the Health Science and Healthcare Administration program (dual listed) provide students the opportunity to complete a professional certification:

  • HLSC-4320 / HCAD-4320: Project Management in Healthcare
  • HLSC-4330 / HCAD-4330: Human Resource Management in Healthcare  

 

HLSC-4320 / HCAD-4320: Project Management in Healthcare

This a course also prepares you to take the CompTIA Project+ certification exam, which students can add to your resume upon successful completion. Certifying Body: CompTIA,  www.comptia.org

From the course catalog: 3 sem. hrs. This course introduces the fundamental project management concepts required to design, develop, and deploy project plans successfully within the healthcare industry. The management of resources, schedules, risks, and scope of a project are examined for successful project implementation. Students are exposed to the role of healthcare project managers and the project management process as they provide structure and oversight to the constantly growing and changing healthcare industry.

Additional information: Project Management occurs daily within all healthcare entities. Hospitals, physician practices, health insurance, long term care facilities, etc. all execute projects daily. Project Management will impact each of you, whether you are studying to be part of healthcare administration or to be a nurse. Everyone involved in healthcare needs to know how to execute a project successfully. This course will teach you the skills and knowledge necessary to execute a project successfully. The knowledge you acquire from this course can be used immediately after graduation in the role you select. This a course also prepares you to take the CompTIA Project+ certification exam, which you can add to your resume upon successful completion.
Bottom line: Many of you already understand what it takes to manage a project. What this course provides you is the proper terminology and process that the healthcare industry follows in conducting professional projects that finish on time, on budget, and a successful outcome.

HLSC - 4330 / HCAD-4330: Human Resource Management in Healthcare 

This course also prepares you to take the aPHR certification exam, which you can add to your resume upon successful completion.

From the course catalog: 3 sem. hrs. This course presents the foundational concepts of healthcare human resource management. Students are introduced to fundamental human resource management techniques needed within health organizations including leadership, workforce planning, recruitment, employee selection, compensation, employee development, workload management, human resource law, and ethics. Future healthcare management and leadership professionals must understand these concepts to comply with human resource department policies and support the strategic plan.

Human resource management will impact each of you, whether you are studying to be part of healthcare administration or to be a nurse. The knowledge you acquire from this course can be used immediately after graduation in the role you select.
